In 2010 a national design competition was held for a proposed memorial commemorating the Boer War. The proposal focussed on the landscape and experience of the war. The centre piece of the memorial was a wall designed to evoke a range landscape, complimented by paving and landscape finishes.
Lighting was integral to the design with a light filled trench to the base of the wall signifying distance. Small lights recessed into the wall face represented Australian lives lost and also created a conceptual representation of campfires across a night landscape.
Urban Art Projects collaborated in providing costing and 3D visualisations.
