Onwards and Upwards is located in a corporate foyer at 197 Turbot Street in Brisban. It is a series of cast porcelain forms arranged across a white marble wall. The arrow form was inspired by a classic symbol of lift lobbies. It is used here to symbolise the movement of people through the building and the upward momentum of the businesses housed within. The arrows angle off the wall and catch the light creating shadows and light effects on a white on white context.
This artwork exhibits Belinda's interest in exploring materials, such as porcelain, to suit the context of an artwork architecturally, functionally and aesthetically. Porcelain is used through her art practice and this artwork shows it's introduction into the public art realm.
Onwards and Upwards was designed and fabricated in 2009 by Urban Art Projects While Belinda was a employed as a lead designer.
